Duff McKagan, Krist Novoselic Perform ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ With Accordion

Duo take on instrumental rendition of ‘Appetite for Destruction’ anthem at McKagan’s Seattle book signing

Duff McKagan held the release party for his new tome How to Be a Man at Seattle’s Neptune Theatre Sunday night, where he sat down to discuss his latest book with friend and fellow bassist Krist Novoselic. During the event, the Guns N’ Roses and Nirvana members performed a thrilling instrumental rendition of the former’s “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” played only with McKagan on bass and Novoselic on accordion.

Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready also attended the release party for How to Be a Man (And Other Illusions), which hit bookshelves May 12th. McKagan’s second book – he previously penned the autobiography It’s So Easy (And Other Lies) – is inspired by the Seattle Weekly column McKagan wrote for five years.

“It’s a how-to guide of things I’ve learned about life – being a dad, being a husband and being in a rock band,” McKagan previously said of his book. “And it’s, like, a city guide in it, but a very tongue-in-cheek city guide; like, how I see cities. It’s got all kinds of stuff. And other stories. And hopefully it’s gonna be a funny book.”

In addition to his new book, McKagan also recorded a companion three-song EP also titled How to Be a Man. The title track, which serves as a “theme song” for the book, also features McKagan’s fellow GN’R mate Izzy Stradlin on guitar, Alice in Chains frontman Jerry Cantrell and Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga.
