Dropkick Murphys and Bruce Springsteen Play ‘Shipping Up to Boston’ Together
Two months ago, Bruce Springsteen surprised the crowd at a Boston Dropkick Murphys concert by joining the band for “Peg O’ My Heart,” “Badlands” and “I’m Shipping Up To Boston.” Hours later YouTube was filled with shaky cell phone videos of the performance, but this week a pro-shot video of “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” hit the web. Check it out here.

Springsteen’s been keeping an uncharacteristically low profile since he wrapped the Working On A Dream tour in November 2009. Every couple of months he hops onstage at special events around New Jersey, but there’s been absolute radio silence regarding any sort of new album or tour. Rolling Stone’s Brian Hiatt sat down with Springsteen before that final show in Buffalo, where they touched upon Springsteen’s future plans. “My life now is just all about the doing,” he said. “I have all the tools I need — I could play by myself; I could play with the Sessions Band, which I’d like to do again. And the E Street Band is in full power. I want us to continue touring. We want to take it out as far as we can go — I don’t feel any different physically onstage than I felt in my late 30s. I’ve got things going already. I have songs I’m writing. Time off is always my struggle. I’m not great at sitting still.“
