The rumors are true: Drake and Future will release their collaborative mixtape What a Time to Be Alive exclusively through iTunes and Apple Music on Sunday. Drake will first premiere the joint album on his OVO Sound radio show on Beats 1 at 6 p.m. EST. What a Time to Be Alive comes just two months after Future dropped his new LP DS2, which features Drake on its hit single “Where Ya At?”
On Saturday, Drake confirmed that he and Future would partner up for a new album by posting What a Time to Be Alive‘s artwork on Instagram as well as a photo mashing up Drake’s OVO Sound logo with Future’s Freebandz emblem. The Instagram posts culminated a week’s worth of chatter about an album-length collaboration between the two rappers after New York hip-hop station Power 105’s The Breakfast Club first aired rumors about a joint LP. Drake then teased during his Music Midtown Festival performance in Atlanta on Friday, “Sunday will be madness,” Rap-Up reports.
Future also shared a snippet from What A Time To Be Alive, posting a video of the two rappers in the studio:
Drake and Future hit the road together earlier this year as part of the Canadian rapper’s Jungle Tour this past spring. That tour and “Where Ya At?” squashed any previous rift between the two rappers resulting from Drake’s Would You Like a Tour? jaunt in 2013. At that time, Future criticized Drake’s then-new LP Nothing Was the Same, resulting in him getting kicked off just days before the trek launched. Future then demanded $1.5 million in lost wages before the two rappers reconciled and the tour resumed as scheduled.
