Drake says he has nothing to do with a planned concert documentary set to hit theaters later this week. “The Drake Homecoming film is not something OVO or Drake have any part in,” the rapper declared on Twitter Monday morning. “I feel it is my responsibility to inform and protect my fans.”

Drake’s Homecoming: The Lost Footage focuses on a 2009 performance by the rapper at Toronto’s Sound Academy, just before he signed with Lil Wayne’s Young Money label. As Pitchfork reports, the documentary was executive produced by Rap-A-Lot Records founder James Prince and his son Jas Prince, who brought a lawsuit against Drake’s management team in 2012, claiming he was entitled to a share of profits for introducing Drake to Lil Wayne. (“Wayne told me he sucked,” Jas Prince recalls in the trailer. “He was like, ‘Jas, you know, don’t play me that shit no more, he’s not good.'”)

The movie, which boasts “never-before-seen footage…believed lost and destroyed,” is set for a one-night release on March 19th.

A statement from Drake’s representative emphasized that the new film was unauthorized. “Obviously Drake and OVO only put out music and video/film that is of the highest quality for their brand and what their fans have come to expect and do not want any fans to buy into something that has not come from them,” the representative said.

Fans hungry for official Drizzy-approved projects will have to be satisfied for now with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, the surprise mixtape he dropped a month ago alongside the short film “Jungle.”
