Drake Announces Tour Plans at Surprise SXSW Show

Drake gave a surprise performance at Fader Fort during South by Southwest in Austin, TX, on Saturday. As Fader reports, his six-song set closed out the night’s festivities following performances from his OVO crew, which included Dvsn, Roy Woods, Majid Jordan and Partynextdoor.
“I got nothing else to do but be here with you all in Austin,” Drake said, via Entertainment Weekly, before he performed “Know Yourself.” The rapper also ran through “Legend,” “Energy,” his collaboration with Future “Jumpman” with help from producer Metro Boomin, and “Back to Back.” He ended with “Summer 16,” before he gave props to his OVO crew and announced that he’ll be back on tour to Austin, Houston and Dallas (and likely more cities) following the release of Views from the 6.
While he teased his forthcoming album, he didn’t provide any additional details on a release date. “Views From the 6 coming in how many weeks, I hope you enjoy that shit,” he said.
Though Drake didn’t perform new songs from his upcoming album, members of OVO did share Drake-related new material following their SXSW set. As Fader reports, Partynextdoor dropped a new song after their SXSW performance. The Noah “40” Shebib-produced “Come and See Me” features Drake.
SXSW attendees were not the only ones that have been treated to surprise sets from Drake recently. Last week, he made a cameo during Rihanna’s concert in Miami. The two performed “Work” and he also performed “Jumpman.”
