Legendary turntablist on his latest album ‘The Less You Know, the Better’

“This is not a shove, it’s an embrace,” DJ Shadow says of his latest album The Less You Know, the Better. The new record finds the legendary turntablist going back to his musical roots after experimenting with the hyperactive Bay Area-originated hyphy sound on his confrontational and polarizing 2006 disc The Outsider. While visiting the Rolling Stone studio, Shadow mused on the economic reasons for the recent boom in DJ culture, the art of sequencing an album and why he has no plans to sample from the Verve catalog despite being signed to the label.
