Dirty Guv’nahs on Meeting Expectations and Levon Helm’s Christmas Party
Knoxville band talks backstage at Bonnaroo
“Our band really started as a group of music appreciators,” says James Trimble, the frontman for Knoxvilee, Tennessee band the Dirty Guv’nahs. “We’d never been in a band before, but we knew we wanted to be a part of music.” Trimble and guitarist Michael Jenkins sat down backstage at Bonnaroo to chat with Benjy Eisen about how juggling real life expectations and recording in Levon Helm’s legendary studio in Woodstock in 2009 – and what it was like attending the late Band drummer’s Christmas party.
The Dirty Guv’nah’s new album, Somewhere Beneath These Southern Skies, is due out on August 14th.
