‘Devastated’ Lykke Li Cancels Tour

Lykke Li has canceled her upcoming festival appearances in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore after the rigors of constant touring forced the I Never Learn singer to “take a break.” “I am utterly devastated. Sometimes we push and push but the body simply won’t follow,” the singer wrote on Instagram. “I gave it all I had, my body, heart and soul. After seven years of touring, my health is screaming/begging for me to listen/heal/slow down.”
In a separate statement, issued after Li canceled her appearances at the multi-city Laneway Festival, the singer wrote, “I’m incredibly sorry to announce that I’m no longer able to play in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore for Laneway Festival. It’s been a long time coming, but unfortunately tour life has caught up with me and it’s been recommended that I take a break. I’m devastated, but know I will return.” Laneway organizers cited “mounting ill health” for Li’s cancellation, Pedestrian reports.
“Thank you for listening to my bleeding heart and watching me dance in the dark these past years. I love you,” Li added on Instagram. “I will come back. Stronger. But for now my loves, I have to rest. You can’t always ‘win’… Take care of yourselves!!! You mean the world to me. Choose light and life! Life is ebb n’ flow. High n’ low. Bet we keep on. I will miss you so.”
Li was booked for seven Laneway performances, beginning January 24th in Singapore and concluding February 8th in Fremantle, Australia with stops in Sydney, Melbourne and other Down Under cities in between. The Laneway gigs were the only concerts the singer had scheduled for 2015 so far.
