Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas Talk Purity Rings on ‘Carpool Karaoke’
Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas helped James Corden get to work on time on The Late Late Show‘s “Carpool Karaoke” Monday, despite jumping out of the car at one point to do some busking.
Lovato and Jonas, who have been friends for 10 years and are about to go out on tour together, brought a special kind of chemistry to the car with plenty embarrassing stories — mostly at Jonas’ expense. Lovato detailed the cyclical pattern of singer’s dating life, while both she and Corden tittered about the days of the Jonas Brothers and their infamous purity rings.
The trio started with Lovato’s “Heart Attack,” for which Corden unleashed some clever choreography, while a rendition of Jonas’ “Chains” elicited scandalous stories from Jonas about being tied up while performing at a gay club.
Eventually, Corden asked Lovato and Jonas if he could join them on tour, prompting a two-part audition: First all three sang a stunning a cappella rendition of “Jealous,” before setting up on the street to busk “Confident.” Corden was persistent, saying: “It was electric. People loved it. Do you know what I heard someone say? I heard someone say, ‘I normally hate those two, but with him it’s amazing.”‘
