The defense attorneys for Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, argued that very graphic photographs from the singer’s autopsy should not be shown to the jury in Murray’s trial.

According to court papers submitted yesterday, the lawyers argued that “admission of these photographs to the jurors will jeopardize Dr. Murray’s right to a fair trial because of the significant risk that the jury will base their decision not on the evidence presented, but on emotional grounds which play no part in a criminal action.”

The attorneys also requested that references to Murray’s visits to strip clubs and an alleged sexual affair be excluded from the trial as that information has no relevance to the charges, which only concern whether the doctor acted with gross negligence when he supplied Jackson with the anesthetic propofol and other sedatives.
