Death Cab for Cutie Return to Studio to Record Eighth Album

Death Cab for Cutie have begun working on their eighth studio album, the follow-up to 2011’s Codes and Keys. The group is currently holed up in a Seattle studio with producer/bandmember Chris Walla, and they recently posted a photo to Instagram showing a few guitars and basses along with the caption, “Paintbrushes. #inthestudio #deathcab.”
The news comes just a few weeks after Death Cab announced they would reissue their breakthrough LP, Transatlanticism, in honor of its tenth anniversary. The band performed the record in its entirety during their recent set at Seattle’s Bumbershoot festival.

Death Cab’s return to the studio caps off a busy year for frontman Ben Gibbard; he reunited with his Postal Service partner Jimmy Tamborello for a massive tour that marked the 10th anniversary of their only record, Give Up.
