Dead & Company Expand Tour, Add New Year’s Eve L.A. Show

Dead & Company, the Grateful Dead offshoot featuring three of the Core Four surviving members alongside John Mayer, have expanded their maiden tour. On top of their previously announced, now-sold out Madison Square Garden dates on October 31st and November 1st, Dead & Company will now debut October 29th in Albany before embarking on a brief Northeast trek. The group will then head west for December shows in San Francisco and New Year’s Eve gigs at Los Angeles’ The Forum.
The arrival of Dead & Company follows the Grateful Dead’s triumphant Fare Thee Well run, which marked the final time the four living “Core” members of the band – Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann – would perform together as the legendary jam outfit. With Lesh on the road with his Phil and Friends outfit, Mayer, along with Allman Brothers bassist Oteil Burbridge and Ratdog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, were recruited to keep the Dead’s music alive.
“We’re not done with these songs and they’re not done with us,” Weir said in a statement. “We’re gonna take these old friends on some new adventures.” Mayer added, “I deeply love the Dead’s music, and it has inspired me in ways I never imagined. To help carry this music is the opportunity and the honor of a lifetime.”
Tickets for the added Dead & Company dates go on sale to the general public on August 28th at Ticketmaster. An American Express pre-sale will take place on August 26th at 10 a.m. local time.
