Dave Grohl Helps Taylor Greenwood ‘Sing You to Sleep’ – Video Premiere

Foo Fighter joins L.A. singer/songwriter for charity lullaby

Dave Grohl first encountered rising L.A. singer-songwriter Taylor Greenwood at one of her New York City performances last year and was so taken by her commanding stage presence and powerful vocals that he offered to assist her with her next album. Now he’s gone a step further, collaborating with Greenwood for her new charity single, “Sing You to Sleep.” The accompanying video for the heartwarming ballad – which premieres here – was shot in Grohl’s recording studio and pairs the Foo Fighter’s glistening acoustic guitar with Greenwood’s stunning voice.

“Dave and I wrote this song together,” Greenwood tells Rolling Stone. “He came up with the beautiful guitar part, obviously, and I sat down at the piano. I sang that lyric, ‘now that you’re next to me, let me sing you to sleep’ without even thinking about it. I thought it would be lovely to do a lullaby. To make whoever listened feel a little comforted, loved, maybe even just a little sleepy.”

The charming track is available via Greenwood’s website as a pay what you want download to benefit Project Night Night. “[The charity] provides comfort, stability and educational materials to homeless children via little hand made gift bags with stuffed animals, security blankets, and books,” Taylor explains. “In many cases these are the only possessions these kids have ever had. I’m so thrilled about how this all came together and so excited to be able to support this charity.”

Speaking about his latest discovery in a statement, Grohl said, “In this day and age where processed production can make anyone America’s next big thing, Taylor Greenwood is so refreshing because she is the real deal. A truly amazing vocalist. Anyone who knows her voice knows the sound of raw, natural talent. I’ve seen her break a room down to pin drop silence, and then make it explode. . .all in one song.”

Greenwood has released three EPs, including last year’s All Around Me and the subsequent single, “Something With You.”
