Danzig announced their new album Black Laden Crown – their first original LP in seven years – will be released in May. The album was recorded alongside longtime guitarist Tommy Victor and Queens of the Stone Age drummer Joey Castillo.

In addition to the new album, Danzig have announced plans to host the Blackest of the Black Festival, a two-day music fest set for May 26th and 27th at Silverado, California’s Oak Canyon Park. The festival will feature over 20 artists, with Danzig serving as headliner on the 27th. The full lineup will be revealed March 27th at the Blackest of the Black site.

Danzig also plan on spending the summer celebrating the 25th anniversary of their 1992 LP Danzig III: How the Gods Kill, with the band’s concerts this summer featuring a heap of How the Gods Kill tracks on the set list, Danzig promise.

In 2016, Glenn Danzig staged a surprise reunion with his former Misfits band mates, marking his first performances alongside bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle since 1983.

“It’s been a shock to see so many musicians dying this year,” he told Rolling Stone of the reunion. “A lot of them weren’t really that old. David Bowie’s death came out of the blue, as did Prince’s. And I’ve said it before with [Type O Negative’s] Peter Steele and Dio: If you’re a music fan, you think these artists will be here forever, but you should enjoy them while they’re here, because you never know what will happen. You’ve got to enjoy it and let it happen before everybody dies.”

Glenn Danzig and company’s last album of original album was 2010’s Deth Red Sabaoth. In 2015, the band released a covers LP Skeletons, with Danzig also recording a still-unreleased collection of Elvis Presley songs.
