D’Angelo and Questlove Jam at Bonnaroo
At this year’s Bonnaroo, the Questlove-curated Superjam had a surprise guest in R&B star D’Angelo, who was making his first live U.S. appearance in twelve years. Though the singer didn’t play any of his originals, he joined Roots guitarist Captain Kirk Douglas, the Who touring bassist Pino Palladino, the Time guitarist Jesse Johnson, Questlove and more on stage to perform covers like Led Zeppelin’s “What Is and What Should Never Be” and the Beatles’ “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window.” This video features the last two minutes of the hour-and-a-half session, with D’Angelo leading the band in closing out the set.
D’Angelo is set to perform on the opening night of New Orleans’ Essence Music Festival, which runs from July 6th to July 8th.
