A decade into their career, Australia’s Cut Copy have managed to keep things musically fresh while remaining friends both on and off the road.
“We’ve done so many shows that if we weren’t going to get along, we would’ve found out by now,” band founder Dan Whitford tells Rolling Stone backstage at this year’s Austin City Limits festival. “But it seems like we’re still buddies.”
As for making music that keeps their attention, Whitford explains in this video interview that the band members all remain dedicated music fans, first and foremost. While touring, they listen to as much new music as possible, which naturally leads them to discover exciting new sounds and styles that they then fashion their albums after – including their current release, Zonoscope.
