Courtney Love Shows No Mercy in Fall Out Boy’s ‘Rat a Tat’

Hole frontwoman brainwashes FOB’s Patrick Stump into a music-hating robot

The bad-ass, fire-starting, anti-music women of Fall Out Boy‘s “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” are back with reinforcements in the new clip for “Rat a Tat” and their leader is none other that Courtney Love.

The collaboration teased before the release of FOB’s comeback record, Save Rock and Roll, is now the ninth installment in the group’s Youngblood Chronicles. The clip opens with bassist Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley suiting up with guitar neck machetes and snare drum crossbows before heading out to rescue frontman Patrick Stump from the music-hating hordes.

Meanwhile, Love barks orders at her instrument-smashing henchwomen before calling Stump to her office, where she makes the beaten, broken frontman join her ranks by destroying guitars, keyboards and records. Just when it looks like all hope is lost, Hurley and Wentz bust in and grab Stump, but the video ends in tragedy when…well, you’ll just have to watch.

The “Rat a Tat” video was shot in Brooklyn over the summer, and you can take a peek inside Love and Fall Out Boy’s gruesome video shoot in our exclusive photo gallery, accompanied by insights from Wentz. “Courtney has still got it,” he said of the video’s co-star. “When she walked into the room, she commanded it. Turns out the bullhorn was not necessary.”

Fall Out Boy are about to head back out on the road in support of Save Rock and Roll, kicking off a massive summer trek alongside Paramore on June 19th at the Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut.
