Courtney Love Joins Lifetime Series ‘A Midsummer’s Nightmare’

Musician lands recurring role on anthology drama based on Shakespeare play

Courtney Love landed a recurring role on Lifetime's Shakespeare-based anthology drama 'A Midsummer's Nightmare.'

Courtney Love will appear in a recurring role on Lifetime thriller A Midsummer’s Nightmare, an anthology series based on William Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series’ modern-day first season focuses on Elena, a young woman whose summer getaway turns hellish. Four lovers venture into the woods on a romantic whim and become stranded as evil forces torment them with their own secrets and fantasies. Love will play one of these mysterious characters dwelling in the woods.

The Hole singer will join previously announced cast members Dominic Monaghan (Lost), Daisy Head (Guilt), Jake Robinson (American Odyssey) and Ellie Gall, among others. Anthony Jaswinski (The Shallows) wrote the A+E Studios drama and will co-executive produce alongside The Firm‘s Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry.

Love has been amping up her IMDb page in recent years with recurring roles on Revenge, Empire and Sons of Anarchy. In 1997, she received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the previous year’s The People vs. Larry Flynt

And while covering other musicians’ songs doesn’t exactly count as acting, Love has appropriated a number of other people’s work this year during her live shows, like PJ Harvey’s “To Bring You My Love,” Radiohead’s “Creep” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs” (alongside Carly Rae Jepsen).
