Cold War Kids ‘Mexican Dogs’ at Sweetlife Festival

In this footage from the second annual Sweetlife Festival, held yesterday at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, California rockers the Cold War Kids kick off their set with a performance of “Mexican Dogs,” a cut from their second album Loyalty to Loyalty. The song is like the halfway point between the gospel-tinge swagger of the Rolling Stones circa the late Sixties and the sprawling, overwhelming alt-rock of Jane’s Addiction. The guys seem a bit nervous at first, asking the audience not to conserve all their energy for the headlining Strokes, but by the middle of the song, they’ve got the crowd in their pocket.
