As the locals would say, “Yeah you right!” Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Phish, Arcade Fire, Santana and Christina Aguilera are some of the big names set to play this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the 45th annual. The event, spread out over two weekends, will take place April 25th-27th and May 1st-4th.

As usual, Jazz Fest 2014 has a lineup packed with classic rock and pop acts as well as dozens of local and regional masters of jazz, blues, R&B, Cajun and zydeco and more. Vampire Weekend, Robert Plant, Public Enemy, John Fogerty and the Avett Brothers are all booked. Representing the unique musical culture of New Orleans are Allen Toussaint, Aaron Neville, the Rebirth Brass Band, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Trombone Shorty, to name a few. The complete lineup can be found here.

Reporting from last year’s Jazz Fest, David Fricke quoted the late R&B singer Ernie K-Doe, who once said, “I’m not sure, but I think all music comes from New Orleans.” “No matter where music comes from,” Fricke added, “when it gets here, it ends up sounding like New Orleans.” Advance single-day tickets to this year’s Jazz Fest are $50 through January 31st.
