According to Ciara, Jive has given her latest album Basic Instinct very little support, which has forced her to spend her own money promoting the record. She also says that the label has stood in the way of her efforts to push the album on her own. In the Facebook post, the singer explains that she personally spent “tens of thousands” out of her pocket promoting the record’s first single “Gimmie Dat” only to learn from radio program directors that Jive did not want the song to be played.

She says that as a result, Basic Instinct has performed very poorly in comparison to her previous albums. Whereas her last three discs debuted in the Top 3, Basic Instinct peaked at Number 44 on the Billboard album chart.
Ciara concluded her message by saying that she hopes to be released from her contract soon so that should “go be creative with people who care and understand me as an artist.”
