Chris Cornell Announces New Album ‘Higher Truth,’ Acoustic Tour

Chris Cornell has announced plans to release his new solo album Higher Truth and embark on an extensive acoustic tour this fall. The new album will arrive on September 18th and was produced by Brendan O’Brien, who served as mixer on Soundgarden‘s Superunknown before becoming a go-to rock producer. Higher Truth will be Cornell’s first solo studio LP since his unexpected foray into pop music on 2009’s Scream.
Two days after Higher Truth drops, Cornell will hit the road for a long solo jaunt that kicks off September 20th at Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall. The tour will conclude November 2nd with a performance at Austin, Texas’ Moody Theater for Austin City Limits. Check out the singer’s official site for full on-sale information. $1 from every ticket sold will go to the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation.
Soundgarden won’t take a complete time out while Cornell goes solo: The King Animal band are scheduled to perform at Kitchener, Ontario’s Big Music Fest on July 11th, their lone upcoming date.
