Chris Brown’s Lawyer: Accuser ‘Fabricated’ Gun Story

Singer dismisses accusations on Instagram, releases new song “What Would You Do”

Chris Brown’s lawyer reiterated his client’s innocence and dismissed the allegation that the singer pulled a gun on a woman, The Los Angeles Times reports.

Mark Geragos said that Brown “cooperated fully” with the police while also questioning the motives of accuser Baylee Curran. On Wednesday, following the incident, Curran made the media rounds and claimed that an associate of Brown’s had been showing her an assortment of jewelry, including a diamond cross necklace, which she was admiring when the associate told her to back off. Curran said that’s when Brown came in, pointed a gun at her and ordered her to leave.

Geragos, however, said, “It has become apparent that the allegations are not just false, but fabricated.” The lawyer claimed that the Los Angeles Police Department did not find the necklace Curran described, or any firearms, in Brown’s house. The LAPD are reportedly still examining security footage recovered from the house.

Curran’s call led to a day-long standoff between Brown and the police. Brown stayed inside his home, posting a series of since-deleted Instagram videos in which he maintained his innocence, while authorities waited for a search warrant. Brown was eventually arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, but was released on $250,000 bail.

In a new video posted to Instagram Wednesday night, Brown responded to the incident and accusations saying, “Yo, you know all this bullshit, everything that’s been going on man, I’m just going to turn the other cheek, drop some music.” He subsequently released “What Would You Do” via Soundcloud.

Brown has not been charged, but will be arraigned on September 20th.
