Chris Brown Sued for $3 Million Over Alleged D.C. Altercation

Parker Isaac Adams, the man who claimed that Chris Brown and his bodyguard assaulted him last October, filed a civil lawsuit Tuesday against his alleged attackers. He told The Associated Press that he is looking to recover his medical bills.

A Washington D.C. Superior Court judge set a trial date for April 17th, according to The Washington Post, though noted that the date may change based on attorney schedules. Brown pleaded not guilty to the charges in October, but did not appear during the brief hearing. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Brown and his bodyguard were arrested last year after the incident, which was said to have taken place last October outside the W Hotel in Washington D.C. Brown was first charged with a felony, but his charges were reduced to a misdemeanor.

Adams had reportedly asked for a picture with the singer, to which Brown told him, “I’m not down with that gay shit,” and, “I feel like boxing.” (The context of those quotes was not clear in the police reports.) AP reports that Adams had tried to insert himself into a picture that the singer had been taking with two other people. Adams alleged that Brown punched him in the face, fracturing his nose, with Brown’s bodyguard Chris Hollosy also hitting him.

Following the arrest, Brown checked himself into rehab last year to deal with his anger, but was kicked out two weeks later after allegedly throwing a rock through his mother’s car window. A judge ordered him to spend another 90 days in rehab later that month. In December, the parole Brown had been serving as a result of his 2009 assault on Rihanna was revoked; he was ordered to complete his rehab and do community service.

Despite all the court and rehab time, Brown released three singles last year. The singer is looking to release his sixth album, X, sometime this year.
