Singer says upcoming album, ‘X,’ will likely be his last

Chris Brown went to jail briefly yesterday after pleading not guilty to charges stemming from a May hit-and-run crash. The singer turned himself in to police, reports MTV, and was released about 40 minutes later without posting bail. Records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department show that Brown was booked at the Van Nuys jail around 2:40 p.m. and was released by 3:22 p.m.

The singer has repeatedly denied that the accident was a hit-and-run, and had two lesser charges of driving without a valid license and proof of insurance dropped in the case. Brown allegedly hit a woman’s car at a red light and fled the scene. The singer’s probabtion was also revoked following the incident.

Brown had tweeted his frustration on June 25th, the day he was charged, writing, “It’s not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars).This is really ridiculous.”

The singer today tweeted that his upcoming album, due out on August 20th, could be his final new release.

Don’t worry mainstream America.After this X album, it’ll probably be my last album,” he wrote.
