UPDATE (3/17): TMZ reports that a Los Angeles judge has ruled Brown will remain in jail until April 23rd, enough time for a Washington D.C. jury to decide on Brown’s unrelated assault case. The judge said Brown had an “inability to stay out of trouble.” The L.A. judge will hold a probation violation hearing on April 23rd.
Chris Brown is out of rehab and back in jail. The singer was arrested Friday afternoon on a probation violation warrant after being discharged from his court-ordered rehabilitation program, Reuters reports.
Brown was receiving treatment for anger management at the rehab center in Malibu as part of the probation conditions related to his 2009 assault on Rihanna. He had been sentenced to five years of probation and 1,400 hours of community service, and entered the rehab facility after his arrest in Washington, DC last October for allegedly punching a man on the sidewalk.
At the end of February, reports from Brown’s probation officer and the rehab facility indicated that Brown suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder, and that he was making good progress in treatment. In spite of those positive assessments, a Los Angeles judge ordered Brown to remain in the treatment program for an additional two months until his trail for the DC assault on April 17th.
The reasons for Brown’s discharge from the facility on Friday are not clear; TMZ reports that Brown was kicked out for violating “internal rules,” and that his dismissal did not involve violence or drugs.
