Chief Keef Arrested on Assault and Robbery Charges

Rapper allegedly robbed former producer Ramsay tha Great at gunpoint during violent home invasion in Los Angeles

Chief Keef was arrested Thursday evening in Los Angeles in connection with a home invasion of his former producer, Ramsay tha Great. The LAPD confirmed Ramsay was robbed at gunpoint at his house on January 19th, and the producer accused Keef with assaulting him during the incident, NBC Los Angeles reports.

The rapper, real name Keith Cozart, was taken into custody without incident along with two others. The Fader reports that one of these other men is believed to be fellow Glo Gang rapper Tadoe. NBC Los Angeles aired footage of the individuals being taken into custody.

In their televised piece, one reporter emphasized that Ramsay “believes the extreme violence they committed was not random.” The producer spoke about the altercation on Instagram, alleging that Keef hit him in the face with an AK-47 during the invasion and robbery. “This ain’t Grand Theft Auto,” Ramsay said in one video. “He been playing too much of that. It’s real life – you can’t do that.”

Reached for comment, a rep for Alki David, the CEO of FOTV that owns Keef’s label FilmOn Music, tells Rolling Stone, “We will fight for him. We’re going to war, Sosa.”

Chief Keef, the Chicago rapper who broke out as a teenager with gritty singles like “I Don’t Like,” announced plans to “retire” from rapping last year. However, he returned in January with the mixtape Two Zero One Seven
