Carrie Underwood Shoots Through the Heart with ‘Little Toy Guns’ Video
It’s pretty apparent from the lyrics of Carrie Underwood’s latest song, “Little Toy Guns,” what message she’s trying to convey. The singer — and mom-to-be — discusses the harmful effects of fighting in front of children, and how parents’ words can wound deeply even if they aren’t directed at the youngsters themselves.
Underwood’s new video for the tune hammers this message further with a tearjerking treatment: Starting out with a vicious fight (sans any music at all) between a husband and wife, the viewer quickly is shown that a child is listening — and is deeply affected by her parents’ cruel words.
The little girl in question uses her imagination to escape her troubled home life, turning her world into a magical forest where she can rescue her father, deliver him to her mother, and join them together again; presumably back in love.
While the video is undoubtedly painful to watch, Underwood herself is visually gorgeous in this segment, as is the woodsy scenery and the ultimate resolution between the actors who portray the broken family.
Underwood is expecting her first child, a son, this Spring. The little lad’s dad is professional hockey player Mike Fisher, whom Underwood wed in 2010.
