First “Creedbombing,” now this.
Greenville, North Carolina native – and longtime shirt-removal advocate – Petey Pablo has just dropped “Carolina Colors,” his anthem for the Carolina Panthers, ahead of the team’s NFC championship game showdown with the Arizona Cardinals. And while it’s not exactly “With Arms Wide Open,” it will definitely inspire the “Keep Pounding” set.
Even though not everyone appreciated the rapper’s efforts to rep his home state on his 2001 hit “Raise Up,” that didn’t stop Pablo from trying to fire up the Panthers. And given that weather conditions in the South will make Sunday’s game a frosty one – the temperature could dip as low as 21 degrees – some extra heat couldn’t hurt.
Anyway, since Pablo released “Carolina Colors,” the track has been met with generally positive reviews. Rather than filling it with awkward football references, Pablo went the Wiz Khalifa route by turning it into an actual song that people would want to listen to. It might even be good enough to get some run at Bank of America Stadium before the big game thanks to lyrics like this:
“Cleanin’ up my house for a dinner date/At the dinner table with my dinner plate/Eating two steaks, reppin’ two states.”
Time will tell if that’s actually an option, though.
Unfortunately for superfan Ked Woodley, this means “Dominate The Foe” is no longer the hottest Panthers anthem on the market. How long until a Panthers player elicits outrage by dancing to it on the field?
