Can Plan New Round of Reissues

Krautrock icons to release 40th anniversary edition of ‘Tago Mago’ and two box sets

Krautrock legends Can have announced plans to release a 40th anniversary of edition of their landmark album Tago Mago on November 14th. The reissue will come packaged in its original U.K. artwork, with a bonus disc of remastered live material from the period.

The anniversary of the album will also be celebrated with a pair of art exhibitions featuring visual work inspired by the band’s music. The gallery show, titled Halleluwah!, will feature art by Albert Oehlen, Daniel Richter, Carsten Nicolai and original vocalist Malcolm Mooney, and will be hosted by the Abtart Gallery in Stuttgart, Germany between September 16th and November 5th and by the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin from November 24th through December 18th.

Can have also revealed plans to release two box sets in 2012. The first, a set featuring all 14 of the band’s studio albums, is set to be released on CD and LP early next year, with pre-orders available in October. A second set, titled The Lost Tapes, is due in March and will include unreleased material from the Can vaults curated by keyboardist Irmin Schmidt and Daniel Miller.
