Camila Cabello Tells Lena Dunham She Felt Objectified in Fifth Harmony
Pop singer Camila Cabello spoke with Girls creator Lena Dunham just before her final show with Fifth Harmony, revealing her discomfort with the sexualization of the band. The interview was taped for a special episode of Dunham’s podcast, Women of the Hour, and also appeared in Dunham’s online newsletter, Lenny.
“Unfortunately, sex sells,” the 19-year-old singer who announced her departure from Fifth Harmony in December. “There’s definitely been times when there’s stuff that I have not been comfortable with and I’ve had to put my foot down. There’s nothing wrong with showing sexuality. If you have that inside, it’s just an expression of who you are. If you want to share that with people, that’s amazing.” Cabello reflected on the pressures of being hypersexualized at a young age and Dunham praised her candidness on the personal topic.
