Cage the Elephant Plot Headlining North American Tour

Cage the Elephant will kick off a headlining North American tour May 1st in Little Rock, Arkansas. The cross-country trek will continue through the summer and conclude June 26th in Phoenix, Arizona. Portugal. The Man will open the shows, with additional support from Twin Peaks and Broncho over the three legs. Tickets for all shows go on sale March 18th.
The alt-rock quintet released their fourth album, the Dan Auerbach-produced Tell Me I’m Pretty, in December. The Black Keys frontman helped the Kentucky band break out of inter-band turmoil, as singer Matthew Shultz told Rolling Stone.
“It was an experiment for him to knock us out of what was comfortable for us,” he said, emphasizing Auerbach’s first-take production approach. “We didn’t touch up,” he recalled of his vocal sessions. “I’d say, ‘But wait, hold on one second, guys! I think that’s a bad note there!’ But it stayed.”
The band began their Spring Fling Rock AF tour last week alongside Foals, Silversun Pickups and Bear Hands. The innovative tour allows fans to enter a start destination and tour stop and get a customized Spotify playlist of the lineup and their sonic peers timed to the total driving length. A “Drive Home” playlist comprised of studio versions of each band’s set list will also be emailed to fans after each show.
Cage the Elephant were included on the January compilation Now That’s What I Call Rock! – the debut rock-themed installment of the long-running Now That’s What I Call Music! series –alongside acts like Bring Me the Horizon, Fall Out Boy and Imagine Dragons.
