Bruce Springsteen’s “Life Itself” Video, Free Download Hit the Web

We’re only 22 days away from the release of Bruce Springsteen’s new album Working on a Dream, but if the anticipation was too much, the Jersey rocker has revealed the video for new tune “Life Itself.” The song is also being offered as a free download over at the Amazon MP3 Store.

Keeping with the theme previously established by Working‘s “My Lucky Day” video, we once again see Springsteen singing and strumming in the recording studio. This time, however, the video features montage footage of tunnels and beaches, despondent-looking people and snapshots of trees. Unlike the sunny, triumphant “Lucky Day,” however, “Life Itself” is a darker, more River-like track. “I knew you were in trouble, anyone could tell,” Bruce sings. “You squandered all your riches, your beauty and wealth. Like you had no further use for, life itself.”

Let’s just say the song won’t have the crowd dancing when Springsteen plays the Super Bowl halftime show in February. The “Life Itself” video is likely among the 38 minutes of footage included on the Deluxe Edition of Working, which will also feature versions of some of the tracks in the demo forms as they were built into their full-bodied E Street performances. Billboard also reports that “My Lucky Day” and “Born to Run” will come as free downloads on Guitar Hero World Tour from January 27th through February 4th.
