Bruce Springsteen will be playing a free concert at an Obama for America rally on Tuesday, October 23rd in the swing state of Virginia, the rocker announced through his website on Sunday. He will be performing at 2 p.m. alongside volunteers and local elected officials at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Charlottesville.

Springsteen made his first 2012 campiagn appearances in two other swing states last week, joining Bill Clinton on the stage at a rally in Parma, Ohio, followed shortly by a set in Ames, Iowa. Earlier that week, he outlined the reasons for his support for Obama in a letter on his website.

“We’re still living through very hard times but justice, equality and real freedom are not always a tide rushing in,” he wrote. “They are more often a slow march, inch by inch, day after long day. I believe President Obama feels these days in his bones and has the strength to live them with us and to lead us to a country ‘…where no one crowds you and no one goes it alone.'”

While Tuesday’s event will be free and open to the public, tickets are required. They are available at Charlottesville-area Obama for America offices beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
