Bruce Springsteen Plays ‘Dancing In The Dark’ at Secret New Jersey Concert

Bruce Springsteen performed his annual fundraising concert for the Ranney School this past weekend at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. Tickets are $1,000 per couple and limited to the staff of the school and parents of students. In recent years the set has moved from classic soul covers towards a higher dose of Springsteen originals. At this show Max Weinberg sit in on drums, alongside Bobby Bandiera’s band and guest singer Southside Johnny. Video rarely emerges from these secret gigs, but this year a handful of songs hit YouTube – including this clip of “Dancing In The Dark.” With Courteney Cox not in the house, Springsteen called his mother Adele to dance during the sax solo near the end.
Update: Unsurprisingly, the video has been taken down. We’re surprised it stayed online for over twenty-four hours. In 2005 a soundboard of half of one of these shows somehow leaked – but besides that Bruce and co. have done a remarkable job of keeping these private shows contained.
