Winter Storm Jonas forced the postponement of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s Sunday night concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden, but the group made sure fans in the Tri-State area could still hear The River Tour by offering up their January 19th show in Chicago as a free download.
“Out here on E Street, we’re missing our fans at The Garden tonight and wanted to send this along,” the band wrote. “Starting now, the live recording of #TheRiverTourChicago on January 19 will be available as a free MP3 download for the next two days at http://bit.ly/therivertourchicago.” The free download of the Chicago gig went live at 8 p.m. EST, giving fans until that time Tuesday to snatch up the recording.
In addition to the complete performance of their 1980 album The River, The Chicago gig also features Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band playing The Ties That Bind cut “Meet Me in the City,” and the Eagles’ “Take It Easy” in memory of Glenn Frey.
The River Tour will continue as scheduled on January 27th with the second of the E Street Band’s Madison Square Garden concerts; no rescheduled date for the postponed concert had been announced at press time.
