Britney Spears’ Fiance Becomes Co-Conservator

Britney Spears‘ fiancé, Jason Trawick, received approval to become the pop singer’s co-conservator, a position that allows him to help manage her personal affairs, the Associated Press reports.

Tarwick applied for co-conservatorship earlier this month, and Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz’s decision means that Trawick will have legal power over Spears’ general well-being (things such as food, clothing and medical care), but he will not have any role in managing her finances. 

Following their engagement last December, Spears requested that Trawick be added as a co-conservator. Though they appeared in court together earlier this year, Spears was not present at today’s decision.

Spears has been under a court-ordered conservatorship since February 2008, a position her father, Jamie Spears, took up following two hospitalizations and bouts of erratic behavior. His attorney, Geraldine Wyle, said Spears’ father was “thrilled” to have Trawick involved.

Trawick had been Spears’ manager from 2008 up to earlier this year, when he stepped down to focus on their romantic relationship and his plans to open an entertainment division for Famos LLC, a company that counts Mick Jagger and Dave Stewart as partners.
