Britney Spears has cancelled her Onyx Hotel tour to recover from the arthroscopic knee surgery she underwent last week.
Spears, 22, suffered “severe damage,” according to a statement from Jive Records, when she injured her knee while dancing during the shoot for her new video “Outrageous” in Queens, New York. Spears will be immobile for six weeks, followed by a two- to three-month rehabilitation period.
Spears’ injury forced the cancellation of a thirty-six-date U.S. tour, in support of 2003’s In the Zone, that was scheduled to launch on June 22nd in Hartford, Connecticut, and run into mid-August. There is no information about rescheduling the dates, as a statement announcing the cancellation said that Spears “hopes to revisit those cities in the future.”
