Bobby Brown checked himself into a rehab center last week as part an agreement stemming from his March arrest for driving while drunk in Los Angeles, The Associated Press reports.

Although a representative for Brown did not reveal the name of the center Brown had entered, he noted that getting treatment for alcohol abuse was part of the R&B singer’s plea deal following the DUI charge.  Brown’s attorney Christopher Brown said in a statement that his client “takes his agreement very seriously.”

The incident was not Brown’s first DUI: He was previously convicted after getting arrested in Georgia in 1996. He plead guilty to the charge and served eight days in prison.

Brown’s current stint in rehab won’t affect upcoming performances with New Edition, which start September 19th on Long Island.
