Bob Seger Robbed After Daughter’s House Party

After attending a party at Bob Seger’s house in Orchard Lake, Michigan, a young man allegedly stole several items from the rock star and was arrested, Detroit’s CBS Local reports.
Andrew D. Thompson was charged by police with stealing cash, sneakers autographed by Shaquille O’Neal and a Rolex watch. Police are also saying that Thompson took the 1978 Gibson Les Paul guitar that appears on the cover of Seger’s Greatest Hits collection; the guitar, however, turned up on the family’s dock following the theft. Thompson denies taking it, though he admitted to stealing other items.
“It mysteriously showed up right after I talked to him, but he denied he took it,” said Orchard Lake Detective Darrell Betts of the guitar. “That was my main goal, getting that guitar back… It’s priceless.”
The 20-year-old Thompson was at Seger’s house for a small, parent-approved party thrown by the musician’s 16-year-old daughter. According to Betts, Thompson is a longtime family friend of the Segers.
Betts believes that Thompson broke into the house through an unlocked door after the party was over. After the Segers realized that items from their house were missing, they requested that the police start calling party attendees; Thompson turned himself in, according to authorities.
Thompson was charged with larceny from a building and could face four years in prison. He was released on bond.
Seger, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, is currently working on a new record. He told Rolling Stone in February that he hopes to have it out by the end of September.
