Bob Seger Launches 2013 Tour With New Song
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band kicked off their 2013 American tour last night with a blistering show at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. The 24-song set featured all the expected hits (“Night Moves,” “Turn the Page,” “Against the Wind), but Seger also sprinkled in many gems unheard on recent outings. The show opened up a cover of John Hiatt’s “Detroit Made” and then went directly into his cover of Otis Clay’s “Tryin’ to Live My Life Without You.”
“Like a Rock” was played for the first time since 1996, but the most exciting development was the addition of a brand new song entitled “All the Roads.” It’s a stripped-down, reflective number with some lovely sax work from Alto Reed. Check out this fan-shot video of the song. Let’s take this as a hopeful sign that Seger’s long-awaited follow-up to 2006’s Face the Promise is finally nearing completion. Seger has 19 more dates on the books. The tour wraps up April 16th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
