Bob Seger Hints That a Tour Is In the Works

Video implies musician is gearing up to play Michigan, Missouri, New York and Ohio

A new video posted on Bob Seger’s official website seems to confirm long-standing rumors that the Detroit rocker is gearing up for a rare tour. The 40-second video shows grainy, old photos of Seger while playing segments of “Night Moves,” “Against The Wind” and “Rock and Roll Never Forgets.” Midway through a map of the U.S.A appears with Michigan, Ohio, Missouri and New York highlighted. After a countdown from 10 to one there’s a giant explosion and the words “Stay Tuned To” appear.

So it seems to be a safe bet that Seger is planning to announce concerts in St. Louis, New York, Cleveland (or Columbus or Cincinnati) and his hometown of Detroit — with more dates likely to follow.

Last March Seger announced that he was contemplating another tour. “We’re looking at some dates and trying to get some buildings, maybe October to November,” he said.  “We just started three days ago and we’ll see what’s available, and of course we’ll play here [Detroit]… See you at the Palace [of Auburn Hills].” Seger is also rumored to be working on a new album.

In 2006 Seger released Face The Promise, his first album of original material in over a decade. He toured arenas the following year, but has largely been out of the public eye since it wrapped. His catalog isn’t available on iTunes, and his late Sixties/early Seventies albums aren’t even in print. In 2009 he released a compilation of that material entitled Early Seger Vol 1., but he sold it exclusively at the Michigan-based chain retailer Meijer and it just contained 10 songs.
