Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet’s Band upcoming U.S. tour will be their very last. The group already had a string of dates lined up to make up for the shows they postponed last year when Seger underwent back surgery, but they’ve added in several more and have said it will mark the group’s final act. The tour was originally called the Runaway Train tour, but they’ve now re-dubbed it the Travelin’ Man tour after his classic 1975 song “Travelin’ Man.”

No reason is given for the decision to hang it up, but Seger is 73 and has been talking about this for years. “My career is winding down,” he told Rolling Stone in 2011. “What can I say? I can’t do this much longer. My manager is 70. We’ve been together for 45 years now and we need to stop pretty soon and turn it over to the Kid Rocks and Eminems. I guess we’re in the final stages here. When I got offstage the other night I said to my security guy, ‘That was surreal. I can’t believe I just did a full-on rock show.’ It’s just surreal.”

Seger was just a few weeks into his 2017 Runaway Train tour when he suddenly postponed the remaining dates. He’d ruptured a disc prior to the tour launch and he tried to power through the shows, but the pain spread to his legs and his doctor told him he needed surgery. “I’m feeling better all the time,” he told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “They aren’t letting me lift anything over five pounds. I can’t do anything: no piano, no guitar, no nothing. But as soon as the pain stops, I’ll be playing again.”

Seger joins a long list of artists on farewell tours this year that includes Joan Baez, Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Simon, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Slayer.

Here are the current dates for Seger’s Travelin’ Man farewell tour, but a press release says that they will announce further shows in Las Vegas, Fresno, San Diego, Vancouver, Florida and other cities.
