K-Pop Phenoms Blackpink Makes U.S. TV Debut on ‘Colbert’

K-pop girl group will also emark on their first North American tour this spring following Coachella

Blackpink, the first all-female group that YG Entertainment, made their U.S. television debut on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Monday night. The quartet also announced their first North American tour.

For their performance, the girl group performed the single “Ddu-du Ddu-du,” which was featured both on the June EP Square Up and their debut album Blackpink in Your Area. They matched the song’s candy-coated trap-pop with impeccable, harmonious choreography. Each of the girls got a moment to shine, whether it was rapping or belting the track.

With 36.2 million plays, “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” became the second-most-viewed video in a 24-hour period in YouTube history, following only Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” (it currently has over 661 million views as of February 12th). Earlier this year, Blackpink was announced as part of the Coachella line-up. It’s the latest element of their American crossover, which follows the collaboration “Kiss and Make Up” with Dua Lipa. Along with their Colbert appearance, the group also announced their first North American tour dates, which will immediately follow the two weekends of Coachella in April.
