Black Sabbath Postpone Tour Dates Due to Ozzy Osbourne’s Sinusitis

UPDATE: Black Sabbath have been forced to postpone a third date to Ozzy Osbourne’s sinus infection. Wednesday’s show in Vancouver was postponed, with the group saying in a statement, “Details regarding the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as it is available. Please hold on to your tickets until further details are available.”
Black Sabbath were forced to postpone their The End concert Saturday in Edmonton as well as Monday night’s show in Calgary after Ozzy Osbourne was unable to perform due to a sinus infection. “Due to extreme sinusitis with Ozzy Osbourne the shows in both Edmonton and Calgary have been postponed,” the band said in a statement Saturday just hours before the Edmonton gig was scheduled to begin. “Details regarding rescheduled dates will be announced as soon as they are available.”
Fans were also advised, “You will use your current ticket for rescheduled show.” Barring any further medical issues, Black Sabbath resume their farewell tour February 3rd in Vancouver. The first leg of Black Sabbath’s “bittersweet” The End trek will conclude February 27th at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
From there, the metal legends will journey to Australasia and Europe before returning stateside in August. As of now, Black Sabbath’s goodbye jaunt concludes September 21st at Phoenix’s Ak-Chin Pavilion.
Health issues have plagued Black Sabbath members in recent years, as guitarist Tony Iommi has battled lymphoma and Osbourne canceled his Ozzfiesta festival in Mexico in May 2015 due to an unspecified surgery that took the singer out of action for four weeks.
The End tour dates were scheduled so that the itinerary wouldn’t be taxing on the band and also allowed for Iommi to undergo the necessary blood work to continually monitor his cancer, which has “gone away, for now at least,” Geezer Butler told Rolling Stone.
“We’re not killing ourselves,” Osbourne said of the tour. “It doesn’t get any easier physically. I don’t know how the fucking Stones do it. I don’t want to kill myself on the farewell tour. I want to enjoy it. If my energy goes, I’m fucked.”
