Black Joe Lewis Hosts a Rager in ‘Come to My Party’ – Premiere

Singer and band recently released new LP ‘Electric Slave’

Black Joe Lewis may have shed the Honeybears from their moniker, but the acclaimed Austin soul band retains their celebratory musical approach with “Come to My Party,” the first video from Electric Slave (which is available here). The clip finds an unsuspecting Zach Galifianakis look-alike having a hallucinogenic reaction to the spiked party punch, imagining heads in the oven, trumpets worn as hats and inhibitions shed, until he wakes up the next morning face down in the rug with cheese-puff pieces on his face.

The 26 Albums You Need to Hear This Fall

With Lewis out in front, the group’s horn-touched devotion to the likes of Howlin’ Wolf and James Brown is alive and well on their third album, which was produced by Grammy winning producer Stuart Sikes – who has helmed records by Modest Mouse, Cat Power and the White Stripes. A month-long tour behind Electric Slave gets underway on September 7th in Nashville, covers the Eastern half of the United States and includes a gig at New York’s Terminal 5 on September 26th.
