Billy Corgan announced the release of a rare, deluxe vinyl package in time for the last burst of holiday shopping, Pitchfork reports. The box set, which contains five LPs, captures a lengthy performance Corgan staged in 2014 that he described as “an ambient/musical interpretation of Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha.” At the time, Corgan also livestreamed the performance, which involved reading parts of Hesse’s novel aloud.
For those looking to relive this experience, Corgan made 500 copies of Siddhartha available through the website of Madame ZuZu’s, a tea house that he opened in Chicago in 2012. Each box set is signed by Corgan, with devoted fans receiving an art print by Corgan collaborator Linda Strawberry, “your own personal Stylophone synthesizer” and a black baseball hat with their purchase.
To further incentivize intrigued customers, those who order a packet of Madame Zuzu’s tea along with their copy of Siddhartha are automatically entered into a raffle to win a record player customized by Corgan. More information is available at the Madame Zuzu’s site.
