Big Boi, Phantogram Detail Collaborative Big Grams EP

Rap icon Big Boi and electronic-rock duo Phantogram have united for their long-in-the-works collaborative debut EP, BIG GRAMS. The seven-track set – which features guest spots from Skrillex and Run the Jewels – is out September 25th via Epic Records.
The collaboration began after Big Boi heard Phantogram’s “Mouthful of Diamonds” in an Internet pop-up ad and Shazamed the track. Impressed by the group’s style, the rapper arranged a meeting and realized they had collective chemistry as a trio. Phantogram contributed to three songs from Big Boi’s second solo LP, 2012’s Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors: “CPU,” “Lines” and “Objectum Sexuality,” the latter of which they also produced.
Big Grams will give their first radio interview on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show on Thursday, September 10th, with lead track “Fell In the Sun” premiering during the program at 12:30 p.m. EST. The EP, which marks Big Boi’s debut with Epic, will be made available for pre-order on the same day. Skrillex is featured on closer “Drum Machine,” and rap duo Run The Jewels (El-P, Killer Mike) assist on “Born To Shine.”
According to a press release, the group is planning “animated/graphic videos, surprise live performances, interactive games and special fan events.” More details will be available at the official Big Grams website, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Phantogram (Josh Carter, Sarah Barthel) have released two studio albums and a handful of EPs. Big Boi’s most recent LP is Vicious Lies; since then, he’s reunited with Andre 3000 for an Outkast tour, added a verse to a remix of Maroon 5’s “Animals” and contributed a song to the Game of Thrones mixtape.
