Georgia rap icons Big Boi and Killer Mike are planning to release a collaborative EP. “Wait until you hear this new shit,” Big Boi told Spin. “Me and Killer Mike, we’re gonna put out a little EP after I put out my next solo record or something like that. We’ve been entertaining the idea for a long time and finally got enough songs to where we just said the other night that we’re gonna do it.”

“Killer Mike is busy as hell,” the Outkast rapper continued. “I mean, he’ll come straight from the airport and go into the studio and bust on two or three records and come back again the next day. We’re just trying to put as many ideas out there as possible.”

Big Boi and Killer Mike have a deep musical history, having met in the mid-Nineties while attending Atlanta’s Morehouse College. Mike made his rap debut with a 2000 feature on Outkast’s Stankonia track “Snappin’ & Trappin’.” He also appeared on the acclaimed duo’s Grammy-winning 2001 single “The Whole World,” 2002’s “Land of a Million Drums,” 2003’s “Bust” and “Flip Flop Rock” (alongside Jay Z).

Outkast appeared on Killer Mike’s 2002 solo track “Akshon (Yeah!),” and Big Boi made solo guest spots on 2003’s “A.D.I.D.A.S.” and 2005’s “My Chrome.” More recently, Big Boi appeared on “Banana Clipper,” a 2013 track from Run the Jewels’ (Killer Mike and El-P) debut LP. The duo returned the favor last year on “Born to Shine,” a track from Big Boi’s collaborative LP with Phantogram, 2015’s Big Grams.

Big Boi released his last solo LP, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, in 2012. Run the Jewels are expected to release their third album this year.
