Beth Ditto, Jean Paul Gaultier Start Plus-Size Clothing Line

Gossip’s Beth Ditto will unveil her own plus-size clothing line this February, and to mark the singer’s foray into fashion, Ditto has collaborated with iconic designer Jean Paul Gaultier on a limited edition T-shirt available exclusively through Ditto’s official site.

The shirt features a graphic of Gaultier’s iconic cone bra corset – made famous by Madonna – on the front and back of black fabric; on the backside, actual adjustable corset laces help form-fit the oversized shirt. “Jean Paul is the most generous, positive person; he truly loves women of all sizes and ages and knows how to make everyone feel gorgeous,” Ditto said in a statement of the collaborative Beth Ditto ♥ Jean Paul Gaultier shirt. “I love that this shirt is funny and chic at the same time, like all the best people!”

Ditto has previously walked the runway in Gaultier shows, and the fashion designer also created a custom gown for Ditto’s wedding. The Beth Ditto ♥ Jean Paul Gaultier shirt also marks the first time any Gaultier design will be available in up to Size 30. “Big girls are beautiful and Beth is super beautiful! Long live the beauty with shapes, boobs and bottoms,” Gaultier said in a statement. “This is a new concept: a loose fit corset. And Beth fits it perfectly.”

A portion of the proceeds from sales of the Beth Ditto ♥ Jean Paul Gaultier shirt will benefit the Girls Rock Camp Foundation.

Ditto’s own line promises to feature vibrant prints, well-tailored pieces and vintage flair. “This line is by us, for us, period,” the Gossip singer said. “It’s my lifelong dream to get to design real clothes for big people, clothes that are comfortable and cool!”
